Recreation Programs

The Town of Gravenhurst is home to a wide range of recreational, arts and cultural programs for youth, adults and seniors. Some opportunities are offered directly by the Town and others by wonderful organizations in our area. Sizzle & Stir - Cooking

Welcome to Sizzle & Stir - Cooking, where kids and teens learn to chop, stir, sauté, and serve up delicious dishes in a fun, supportive environment! Our age-specific culinary programs focus on developing kitchen confidence, essential cooking skills, and a love for real food. With a blend of nutrition, culture, creativity, and teamwork, Sizzle & Stir offers something for every budding chef—from tiny tasters to teen gourmets.

Whisk & Wonder - Baking

Whisk & Wonder – Baking introduces kids and teens to the joy of baking from scratch! With three age-specific programs, participants build skills, confidence, and creativity through hands-on learning, teamwork, and fun in the kitchen.

STEM Explorers

STEM Explorers is a hands-on program where children discover Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math through fun activities, experiments, challenges, and creative projects. Each month features a new STEM theme, encouraging curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and discovery. Register for one month or join them all—each session is a stand-alone experience!

Creative Kids

Creative Kids is a fun, creative program where children explore their imagination through hands-on art activities and crafts. Each month features a new theme, allowing participants to experiment with different materials, techniques, and artistic styles. No experience is needed - just bring your creativity and get ready to make something amazing!

FuNastics (November)

This introductory artistic gymnastics program will teach the necessary basics of warming up, conditioning muscles and beginner gymnastics on all 4 events. This primary class will focus on having fun in a safe manner, using logical progressions and proper professional technique. Whether transitioning from Parent and Tot or just starting an exciting new sport, learning beginner gymnastics has never been more Fun!

Tumble Kids (November)

Tumble Kids is a fun, energetic program that introduces children to the basics of gymnastics and movement. Kids build strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence through engaging floor activities like rolls, bridges, cartwheels, handstands, and walkovers. Classes support skill progression in a safe, encouraging environment, helping children improve balance, body awareness, and fitness while having fun and making friends.

Backyard Discovery

Backyard Discovery invites adults and kids to get outside and explore the natural spaces in their own backyard. Join us for drop-in hikes through local parks, trails, and green spaces while discovering seasonal changes, local plants and wildlife, and the hidden gems that make our community special.

Off the Map: Geocaching Adventure

Geocaching is a fun outdoor adventure combining exploration, problem-solving, and technology. Participants use GPS-enabled devices or a geocaching app to find hidden caches while learning to follow coordinates, clues, and trails. Perfect for adults, families, and groups of all experience levels, geocaching encourages teamwork, curiosity, and adventure while getting everyone outdoors and active.

Note: Participants must provide their own GPS-enabled device.

Choux Pastries

"If the Choux Fits: Cream Puffs & Eclairs": Join Red Sealed certified chef Jessica Anderson for a fun, interactive session teaching you how to use one dough for eclairs, churros, cream puffs and gougères. This workshop is an approachable class breaking down this classic French dough, showing how to pipe, bake, and fill with confidence. Participants will get to bring all of the tasty treats home.

Registration for a recreation program at the Town of Gravenhurst is easy!

ONLINE
Online registration is convenient and user friendly. We use a registration system called ActiveNet and it only takes a few moments to set yourself up. Once your account is created and activated, you will be able to register for programs and view receipts from previous programs. Please note that as a parent/guardian of a household, you will need to create an account for yourself first, then you will be able to create one for your child.

The total fee is due at the time of registration. Payments may be made by cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard or cheque (payable to the Town of Gravenhurst).

Our priorities are safety and communication. Sometimes unexpected events necessitate that a program or service must be moved, postponed or cancelled outright. In those circumstances we will post the relevant information as soon as it is available. Every effort will be made to make up the affected missed classes if possible.

During bad weather days, decisions whether programs will be running or not will be made by 3 hours in advance of the program start time and the information posted. The Town will make every attempt to list all current emergency or unexpected cancellations or closures for Town of Gravenhurst programs and events. However, we cannot guarantee that a cancelled program will be listed here. All Town of Gravenhurst programming may be subject to change. Please use your own best judgment to assess local road conditions before venturing out.

Indoor Walking

Ready, Set, Walk! Want to get your walk in for the day but aren't a fan of the winter weather? You're in luck! The Gravenhurst Centennial Centre is offering indoor walking around the ice pad over the winter months. FREE! No registration required.

Due to limited space surrounding the ice pad, strollers are not permitted.
