Gravenhurst Trails Committee

The Gravenhurst Trails Committee is a Subcommittee of Council responsible for assisting the Town with implementing the Parks, Recreation and Trails Master Plan, specifically Section 8 Trails Assessment.

Mandate & Responsibilities
  • Assist with the development of Infrastructure Services Department standards and policies for trail maintenance and trail connectivity.
  • Assist with the development of trail maintenance programs and public events, in consultation with the Infrastructure Services Department.
  • Identify deficiencies in the existing trail network and recommend actions to correct them.
  • Provide recommendations in the development of the annual trails operating and capital budget for maintenance and programming.
  • Actively assist the Infrastructure Services Department by performing approved “hands-on” maintenance activities and special events to promote trails.
  • Assist with the recruitment of volunteers from the community for trail maintenance, and the development of events and programs.
  • Source and make recommendations on third-party funding, partnerships and strategies to share resources of trail maintenance, promotion and development.
