The Town of Gravenhurst is home to a wide range of recreational, arts and cultural programs for youth, adults and seniors. Some opportunities are offered directly by the Town and others by wonderful organizations in our area. Pollination & Native Plants Workshop

Join Parklane Landscapes for an engaging class on the importance of native plants and their role in supporting healthy pollinator populations. Native plants are naturally adapted to the local climate, soil, and wildlife, having evolved alongside native pollinators over thousands of years. As a result, they often provide superior sources of nectar and pollen for local insects and birds. By incorporating native species into our landscapes, we help maintain biodiversity, strengthen ecosystems, and ensure pollinators have the resources they need to thrive. Come learn about the many benefits of native plants and enjoy the opportunity to split a plant and take one home with you.

Sizzle & Stir - Cooking

Welcome to Sizzle & Stir - Cooking, where kids and teens learn to chop, stir, sauté, and serve up delicious dishes in a fun, supportive environment! Our age-specific culinary programs focus on developing kitchen confidence, essential cooking skills, and a love for real food. With a blend of nutrition, culture, creativity, and teamwork, Sizzle & Stir offers something for every budding chef—from tiny tasters to teen gourmets.

Lacrosse

This program is a non-competitive league focusing on skill development and having fun. Each session consists of skills, drills and a game. Muskoka Wharf Events Field.

Parent & Tot Gym Stars

Parent and Tot Gym Stars is a fun gymnastics program for ages 2–5, focused on building balance, coordination, and flexibility through playful activities and basic tumbling. With parent involvement and guided instruction, kids gain confidence while exploring movement in a safe, supportive setting.

FuNastics

This introductory artistic gymnastics program will teach the necessary basics of warming up, conditioning muscles and beginner gymnastics on all 4 events. This primary class will focus on having fun in a safe manner, using logical progressions and proper professional technique. Whether transitioning from Parent and Tot or just starting an exciting new sport, learning beginner gymnastics has never been more Fun!

Adventure Games

Adventure Games is a high-energy outdoor program where kids stay active through team challenges, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, relay races, and capture-the-flag-style games. Participants build fitness, problem-solving skills, and teamwork in a fun, supportive environment.

Each session encourages confidence, friendly competition, and outdoor exploration - turning parks and trails into playgrounds for adventure and active play.

Nature's Canvas

Nature’s Canvas is a hands-on outdoor art program where participants draw inspiration from the natural world. Through activities like sketching landscapes, leaf and bark rubbings, nature collages, and earth-toned painting, participants explore creativity while observing nature.

The program encourages imagination, mindfulness, and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors as both a classroom and an art studio.

Trail Blazers: Explore & Learn

Trail Blazers: Explore & Learn is a guided outdoor program where children and caregivers explore nature together through slow-paced walks, hands-on discovery, and sensory observation. Participants build nature literacy—learning about plants, animals, habitats, and seasonal changes—while fostering curiosity, confidence, and connection to the outdoors.

Caregivers join the experience, modeling curiosity and supporting exploration in a relaxed environment.

Outdoor Youth Ball Hockey

Outdoor Ball Hockey gives youth a fun, safe, and supportive way to stay active, build confidence, and develop hockey skills. Open to all skill levels, the program emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, fitness, and skill development through drills, games, and friendly competition. Participants learn key ball hockey fundamentals such as passing, shooting, stickhandling, positioning, and game strategy while enjoying outdoor play.

Picasso in the Park

Picasso in the Park is a fun outdoor art program for young children and their caregivers. Through messy play, sensory activities, and creative projects like painting, nature crafts, slime, and tear-and-glue art, children can explore self-expression while building imagination and fine motor skills. All materials are provided—just bring your creativity (and a change of clothes!). Perfect for toddlers to early elementary ages.

Herbal Scrub Workshop

Join Akansha from Nirvah Beauty for a relaxed, hands-on workshop where you will learn how to make your own gentle, natural face and hand scrub using simple ingredients. We will talk about how skin changes as we age and why harsh products can cause dryness and irritation. You will create a personalized scrub to take home, along with easy instructions on how to use it safely. No experience needed. Just come ready to learn, mix, and enjoy a cozy time together. Beginner Group Lessons: Tennis

Online registration is convenient and user friendly. We use a registration system called ActiveNet and it only takes a few moments to set yourself up. Once your account is created and activated, you will be able to register for programs and view receipts from previous programs. Please note that as a parent/guardian of a household, you will need to create an account for yourself first, then you will be able to create one for your child.

IN PERSON
Drop off completed registration form (PDF) at the Centennial Centre – Recreation Department Office. In person registrations are available during office hours.

The total fee is due at the time of registration. Payments may be made by cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard or cheque (payable to the Town of Gravenhurst).

Our priorities are safety and communication. Sometimes unexpected events necessitate that a program or service must be moved, postponed or cancelled outright. In those circumstances we will post the relevant information as soon as it is available. Every effort will be made to make up the affected missed classes if possible.

During bad weather days, decisions whether programs will be running or not will be made by 3 hours in advance of the program start time and the information posted. The Town will make every attempt to list all current emergency or unexpected cancellations or closures for Town of Gravenhurst programs and events. However, we cannot guarantee that a cancelled program will be listed here. All Town of Gravenhurst programming may be subject to change. Please use your own best judgment to assess local road conditions before venturing out.
