The Town of Gravenhurst is home to a wide range of recreational, arts and cultural programs for youth, adults and seniors. Some opportunities are offered directly by the Town and others by wonderful organizations in our area. FREE TRAINING. Only 15 spaces available. Brought to you by the Town of Gravenhurst and the Gravenhurst YMCA.

All training takes place at the Centennial Centre YMCA Pool in Gravenhurst

Creative Lab

Creative Lab is a hands-on, imagination-driven program where participants explore art, design, and creative thinking. Each session offers new materials and techniques to try—painting, crafting, building, and more. With guided projects and open-ended creative time, there’s no “right” way to make art—just space to experiment and express yourself. Perfect for all skill levels, Creative Lab inspires confidence, curiosity, and a love of creating.

Welcome to Sizzle & Stir - Cooking, where kids and teens learn to chop, stir, sauté, and serve up delicious dishes in a fun, supportive environment! With a blend of nutrition, culture, creativity, and teamwork, Sizzle & Stir offers something for every budding chef—from tiny tasters to teen gourmets.

Parent & Tot Gym Stars

Parent and Tot Gym Stars is a fun gymnastics program for ages 2–5, focused on building balance, coordination, and flexibility through playful activities and basic tumbling. With parent involvement and guided instruction, kids gain confidence while exploring movement in a safe, supportive setting.

This introductory artistic gymnastics program will teach the necessary basics of warming up, conditioning muscles and beginner gymnastics on all 4 events. This primary class will focus on having fun in a safe manner, using logical progressions and proper professional technique. Mini Makers

Mini Makers is a hands-on creative program where young artists explore, build, and experiment with materials like clay, recycled objects, and paper-mâché. Through 3D art, sculpture, and craft projects, children develop creativity, fine motor skills, and confidence.

Guided instruction introduces new techniques while encouraging imagination and personal expression. Mini Makers gives kids a fun, supportive space to explore, create, and proudly share their work.

Trail Blazers; Explore & Learn

Trail Blazers: Explore & Learn is a guided outdoor program where children and caregivers explore nature together through slow-paced walks, hands-on discovery, and sensory observation. Participants build nature literacy—learning about plants, animals, habitats, and seasonal changes—while fostering curiosity, confidence, and connection to the outdoors.

Caregivers join the experience, modeling curiosity and supporting exploration in a relaxed environment.

Location: Hahne Farm Trail (parking at 5 Pineridge Gate)

This program is a non-competitive league focusing on skill development and having fun. Each session consists of skills, drills and a game. Muskoka Wharf Events Field.

Adventure Games

Adventure Games is a high-energy outdoor program where kids stay active through team challenges, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, relay races, and capture-the-flag-style games. Participants build fitness, problem-solving skills, and teamwork in a fun, supportive environment.

Each session encourages confidence, friendly competition, and outdoor exploration - turning parks and trails into playgrounds for adventure and active play.

Nature's Canvas

Nature’s Canvas is a hands-on outdoor art program where participants draw inspiration from the natural world. Through activities like sketching landscapes, leaf and bark rubbings, nature collages, and earth-toned painting, participants explore creativity while observing nature.

The program encourages imagination, mindfulness, and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors as both a classroom and an art studio.

Child/Youth Workshops

Learn to Sew

Kids learn basic sewing with safe plastic needles while making five simple stuffed animal projects. This hands-on, beginner-friendly class teaches simple stitches, pattern following, and basic assembly. Each child goes home with their own adorable handmade animals. All materials included.

Get ready to dodge, dip, duck, or dive your way through the most fun you’ve had all week! Whether you’re a seasoned player with a wicked side-arm or someone who just wants an excuse to move, throw, and maybe dramatically dodge a ball or two, this league is designed for all skill levels.

Indoor Walking

Ready, Set, Walk! Want to get your walk in for the day but aren't a fan of the winter weather? You're in luck! The Gravenhurst Centennial Centre is offering an indoor walking track around the ice pad over the winter months. FREE! No registration required.

Due to limited space surrounding the ice pad, strollers are not permitted.

Exclusion dates: January 9, February 16.

Registration for a recreation program at the Town of Gravenhurst is easy!

Online registration is convenient and user friendly. We use a registration system called ActiveNet and it only takes a few moments to set yourself up. Once your account is created and activated, you will be able to register for programs and view receipts from previous programs. Please note that as a parent/guardian of a household, you will need to create an account for yourself first, then you will be able to create one for your child.

IN PERSON
Drop off completed registration form (PDF) at the Centennial Centre – Recreation Department Office. In person registrations are available during office hours.

The total fee is due at the time of registration. Payments may be made by cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard or cheque (payable to the Town of Gravenhurst).

Our priorities are safety and communication. Sometimes unexpected events necessitate that a program or service must be moved, postponed or cancelled outright. In those circumstances we will post the relevant information as soon as it is available. Every effort will be made to make up the affected missed classes if possible.

During bad weather days, decisions whether programs will be running or not will be made by 3 hours in advance of the program start time and the information posted. The Town will make every attempt to list all current emergency or unexpected cancellations or closures for Town of Gravenhurst programs and events. However, we cannot guarantee that a cancelled program will be listed here. All Town of Gravenhurst programming may be subject to change. Please use your own best judgment to assess local road conditions before venturing out.
